From clogged drains and sewer line repair to water heater replacement, Captain Rooter delivers honest diagnosis, upfront pricing, and plumbing work done right the first time. Same-day service is available for most calls.
Captain Rooter has a deep understanding of how local homes are built and how their plumbing systems age over time.
Eugene’s housing stock spans more than a century, from 1910s Craftsman bungalows in the Whiteaker with original galvanized supply lines, to mid-century ranch homes in Cal Young and Harlow with cast iron drain systems, to newer construction in the hills south of 30th Avenue. Each era brings its own plumbing characteristics, common failure points, and repair considerations, and we have worked on all of them.
That local experience matters when you are dealing with recurring drain issues, sewer line problems, outdated piping, or an aging water heater. Plumbing problems in the Willamette Valley are often shaped by more than what is happening inside the home. Expansive clay soils can shift sewer laterals over time, while aggressive root intrusion from Douglas fir and bigleaf maple trees in neighborhoods like Amazon and Laurel Hill can create stubborn blockages and long-term damage underground.
As a certified drain technician through the International Institute of Sewer & Pipe Cleaning, a state-licensed Water Heater Installer, and a DEQ septic installer, Luke Rabun brings more than 20 years of hands-on construction experience to every job. Captain Rooter combines that technical knowledge with honest diagnosis, clear communication, and practical solutions designed for Eugene homes and the real plumbing challenges that come with them.
Over 20 years of hands-on construction experience, technical certifications, and a commitment to clear communication and quality work.
As the lead drain technician and founder of Captain Rooter, LLC, I believe a good business operates on these three basic principles: communication, a strong work ethic, and customer service. I’m a certified drain technician through the International Institute of Sewer & Pipe Cleaning, a state-licensed Water Heater Installer, and hold a DEQ septic installer and maintenance provider certification. My passion for the construction industry comes from an obsession of understanding how things work. I started as a plumbing apprentice in 2004, and in 2006, I opened Pacific Solar and Rain. I have been self-employed ever since. My acute understanding of the construction process and how different building assemblies interact led me to start Oregon Home Inspections in 2012. In 2015, I started offering sewer camera inspections with my home inspections. After nine years of inspecting and acquiring an in-depth understanding of sewer systems, I started Captain Rooter, LLC, combining over 20 years of hands-on construction experience and knowledge.
While most of my friends and family would tell you I’m always working, which is not too far from the truth, I would tell you I work to live; I don’t live to work. You could say I have that work hard, play hard mentality. I love listening to music and spend as much time as possible practicing the air guitar, which is about the extent of my musical talent. LOL. But what really makes me tick is my love for fishing, especially when I’m 60 miles offshore in my boat tuna fishing. Life, to me, is not about the destination but rather the journey and the people I meet along the way. To wrap it up, the three things I’m the most proud of besides my family are being self-employed for over 20 years, building two of my own houses from the ground up, and obtaining the Coast Guard-approved OUPV captain license. So, to sum it up, that’s why I named my business Captain Rooter, as it combines my passion for life with the love of my job.
Captain Rooter handles a wide range of plumbing problems, from simple fixture issues to larger sewer and water line concerns. Common problems we fix include leaking pipes, clogged drains, sewer backups, broken water heaters, low water pressure, running toilets, old galvanized plumbing, and root intrusion in sewer lines. Because homes in different neighborhoods and communities were built in different decades with different plumbing materials, we take the time to find the actual cause before recommending repairs.
At Captain Rooter, we are dedicated to providing a family-friendly, five-star experience from start to finish. From the moment you call us, you’ll notice the difference. We will listen carefully to your concerns, answer your questions, and schedule appointments at times convenient for you. We will respect your time by arriving punctually and ready to work.
Every home and plumbing system is unique, which is why we take the time to fully understand your specific sewer and drain issues before recommending the best course of action. We know that no two problems are the same, which is why we never rush through the diagnosis. Our team uses state-of-the-art tools and equipment, including sewer inspection cameras, to get a clear, precise view of the problem. This technology allows us to quickly identify blockages, cracks, or potential issues deep within your pipes, ensuring we target the root cause – not just the symptoms.
